Well, I actually was at the wedding from May 27th to may 29th, but as you will see a couple of posts after this, I was very busy and didn't have time to blog. I have come into some spare time, and figured it was time for an update.
Saturday Pictures
We got into Huntsville around Noon on my Birthday. Eric, Geoff and I had been riding in Geoff's car. I got to drive it, and was excited with all the twisty back-roads. there were a couple of times, however, when we got on a steep grade and the automatic had to kick down into third. Otherwise, the 5-speed automatic version of Geoff's car is sufficiently peppy. It also had lots of neat little tricks... like when you tap on the brake it will downshift to 4th to help brake and otherwise be prepared to accelerate again.
We checked in to the University Drive Holiday Inn Express, got the appropriate wireless passwords, and then set off to laze about (hey, it was the weekend, long tho it may be). After some loafing, we set off to Gibson's Bar B-Q for dining with everyone. There we realized that the attending was mostly Wendy and Morgan's family, joined with many awesome friends from Duke like Claire and Alex, Gwineth, Amy and Peter, Decker, and of course, Wendy and Morgan. The food was yummy, and we took Wendy back to her house so she could show off said house and lovely puppy. Then it was off to the Marriott where there was a good game of munchkin (Geoff was a Cleric and won by Divine Intervention... grr (argh)). It was a surreal game of munchkin because Another group of wedding-goers was playing encore which involves lots of singing. It's neat that there are so many singers in Wendy and Morgan's families.
Huntsville space center photos
Sunday, the day of the wedding, we had some extra time, so we skeedaddled through the Huntsville space center. It was really cool, but it was also very, very hot outside. That heat where you walk outside and just sort of wilt. Eventually we sped off to "Burritt on the mount" for the wedding.
WendMorgan Wedding
The wedding was beautiful. Check the pictures for details. Otherwise, a few of the highlights:
- Wendy and Morgan had the String Quartet play the Zelda theme as the recessional (which is why Geoff and Gwineth are laughing so hard in those two shots, but everyone of zelda age enjoyed it)
- Red Velvet and Chocolate wedding cake (so much better than some vanilla shlock with hazelenut or raspberry icing)
- No chicken in the buffet line... just crab-puffs, meatballs, and coconut shrimp... all delicious to the end. They even had Brie coated in caramel. Brilliant, brilliant catering.
And that's it for now, I am heading to bed.
