So, what I have I been doing since my birthday...
Well, one of the big exciting events that has occured in the apartment is that Geoff's Mercedes had hit money pit stage... the stage where you either stop driving it for 5 months while you give it a full restoration, after which you will probably not want to do anything but rub it with a diaper... or you just trade it in. Either way, this involves the happiness of a new car.
Thus, there have been many late night discussions which have been chronicled in the car talk forums, not to mention some running commentary by Yang.
Also, there is this weird tendancy for me to talk to Geoff, and then the conversation to get really interesting... and all this starts at 9:00 AM and lasts for 2 hours... needless to say, last weeks sleep sucks. This is because I have started getting up at 5:30 AM in order to beat the traffic home. See if I get in at 7:00, I get to leave at 4:00. Unfortunately this doesn't work too well in Atlanta because: Stupid people drive crappy cars that die in summer heat. So crappy that they cannot sputter into a shoulder, so they die in the middle of what is most likely to be the usiest highway. Then, stupid people look at Georgia Navigator (traffic monitoring website) and see that there has been a stall (and 25% of the time an accident caused by the fact that Atlanta is full of ass-riding speeders who can't handle a panic stop). Then they go "OH NOES, A STALL/ACCIDENT ON MY WAY HOME, I MUST LEAVE NOW NOW NOW". Thus, what was free and clear at 4:00PM becomes a snarl with backed up exit ramps by 4:20 PM.
There is also this thing about how I 285 East gets onto 400 north. The lane backs up because the dipshits designing the highway system decided that it would be a good idea to have a high traffic artery merge into 400 from the left with only about 25 feet of onramp. This pretty much guarantees that a semi trying to merge will meet an incompetant/impatient dick in the left lane who won't get over or let the semi in, thus much slowing down ensues.
Since the offramp from 285E to 400N is now backed up, people who though that they had time to get over (this is a right lane that becomes exit only) find that there is a line, so they have to slow down and force themselves into the exit lane, causing the right lane to go even slower. The right lane going slower causes people to jump in line... and it's all craziness. Also, if this starts happening at *prior* exits (like roswell road) you might get trapped in the right lane and forced off the highway by people blocking the lane trying to make it onto the exit onramp. (this happened, ironically, one time when I stayed late, at 7PM, when all this crap is supposed to clear up)
But enough traffic ranting. If anything, I just need to test the back-ways to reduce the insanity.
Otherwise, I had a spud-anniversary this past sunday... but it was sort of wrecked by the fact that I had to work because work handled things poorly *lesigh*
Otherwise, someone at work is actually sitting down and discussing the home-buying process *squee*. This is good considering I have made the deadline august 2006 (when the lease is up next year)
but I'll talk about that later, as I need to get to bed
future plans:
- try the back-roads home sometime
- work out after I get home before Geoff does, start by walking to get the mail instead of stopping in the car
- get my tourney post on three more forums, then email redoctane
- watch my spending, although, I don't see any funds that aren't accounted for, and I think I want to save up for RM# anyways...
I'm doing okay, just getting busy with my own petty stuff
